Summary

chevron-down
The South of Vietnam is always hot and tropical. This means the weather conditions are not particularly important. Even if it is raining the whole tour, it is fun driving through boiling-hot puddles of clay deep in the Vietnamese jungle.
The term “offroad” means something different to everyone. But in my opinion, these South offroad routes are what most people consider to be “fun” off-road. Easy, gravelly, single track trails that dart between the wilderness and urbanisation.

The North tours might have epic mountains, but the driving is relatively tough, and the weather does play an important role in the enjoyment of the tour. Not in the South, anytime of year this will be fun!
What people are surprised by is that the South of Vietnam can get extremely remote, with large sections with no people. The routes we have are creative and fun, and when you are tired, we can go to major highways to get to the hotel.

Who this tour is for

chevron-down
The offroad is endless but not difficult. The distances between locations on this tour are relatively large. Beginner riders will find themselves doing a 50/50 mixture of offroad and road to make up the distances.
Advanced riders will find themselves full throttle on fire trails and single track for the entire tour.
With some skill, you really can have your 150cc motorbike pinned to max throttle for alot of this tour. This is huge fun, and all the ruts and ditches turn into jumps!
Basically, anyone can enjoy this tour. Beginner to expert!

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Ho Chi Minh to Cat Tien

Day one stats from HCM and has us into offroad within around 1.5 hours. This isn’t bad considering how large HCM city is to escape. After a bit of offroad that zig zags around urban terrain, we enter Cat Tien National Park. Inside here are elephants, though thankfully, we never see them.
It is a thick and dense jungle, and depending on conditions, it can be difficult or easy. There is no escaping that this is extremely remote, hot, and tropical.
We wind up the day with a hotel on a river outside of Cat Tien National Park.

Day 2

Cat Tien to Bao Loc

Day two had us heading up to Bao Loc. The temperature significantly drops, and we are met with huge areas of coffee and tea plantations. Before doing that, though, we can optionally visit a massive waterfall that no foreigners know about!
The day has us on pine trails, and at any point, we can head to the hotel in Bao Loc. The evening restaurant in Bao Loc is a very special BBQ place!
Day 3

Bao Loc to Ho Tram

Day three is probably the best day of this tour. We head South toward Ho Tram on the coast. First, we have to go over a small boat crossing, and after that, we are blasting through endless rice paddies. We then head off deep into plantations, and as we head South the trails get more and more sandy.
Eventually leading us all the way to the sandy coast!
Day 4

Ho Tram to Ho Chi Minh

Day four is Ho Tram back to Ho Chi Minh. The route can have you driving on the beach before zig-zagging through rice paddies back toward Ho Chi Minh. We pass endless quarries, a military shooting range and more rubber plantations than you can imagine. The day isn’t long in real life, so we can get back to Ho Chi Minh at any time you like.

Three day Variant

The three-day variant will go from Cat Tien directly down to Ho Tram, skipping out Bao Loc. This works fine, but it does mean that all three days are long and tiring. The 4 day variant adds a bit of a buffer for a relaxed pace, whilst also seeing Bao Loc, which is mountainous. Without Bao Loc, most of this tour will be farm land trails.
