Vietnam is famous for beaches, but it will eventually become famous for its mountains. Vietnam is a mountain country at heart, and that is what us bikers are here to see.
- Phong Nha, its caves and turquoise rivers are stunning. Paradise Cave, Dark Cave.
- Ha Giang for amazing mountain roads, or “The North West” for amazing off-road mountain roads.
- Ban Gioc Waterfall in the North East.
- Dalat and all its waterfalls.
- Nha Trang and its mega beach parties (sailing club).
The whole thing from start to finish was a fantastic experience, any lows just made the highs better.
Still taking the whole thing in many months later.
Tigits bike hire was very good and the Honda winner 150 performed perfectly all the way, one less worry having a good bike with back up.
If I had one thing , I would like to be able to do a oil change on other routes, If I go again I would travel near the Laos border and diverting to Danang would be a pain.

I recommend at least going to Hue and spending a few days here and Phong Nha and its caves!
Driving through the mountains was the most beautiful! I really liked the Ho Chi Minh Road and going to Da Lat by bike with the beautiful views and fun curves!
We rode 2 Honda 150s. Tool pouches were not in either bike. My bike’s brake handle was cracked 1/2 way through. I videoed the inspection and found the crack later. Though no serious accidents, wet leafs and bad roads laid both bikes over breaking both clutch handles and one brake handle. we replaced all 4 handles.
We brought handles back to the office and were reimbursed.
Suggestion: 1) Send spare handles out with the spare inner tubes. or 2) install handle guards. We saw motorbikes with guards. Thought that was good alternative..
Leave the fishing poles home. Many other things to do.
For me, the best experience by far was the Son Tra peninsula and the Hai Van Pass. These two natural wonders are the hidden gems of Vietnam. Overlooking the South China Sea, wind in my face and sun on my back and then stopping for a cold drink and chatting with the charming locals, this is a can’t miss experience.
