We have found the Honda CRF 150 to be one of the best choices for Vietnam’s terrain for experienced riders. This motorbike comes with wide foot-pegs, aggressive offroad tires and a free damage waiver for crashing.
The tires are not road legal, although we understand the road must be used to get to the destination. Just don’t rent this motorbike for a road journey!
For + $5 a day, the Honda CRF 150l can be equipped with 2x 12L high quality Kriega saddle bags.
For all you KTM and Husqvarna lovers out there
We can’t pretend that this is a KTM or Husqvarna, but we can claim that this is the best option within Vietnam for such people. A skilled rider will be able to wield this beast to its full potential and the over quality build of the motorbike won’t disappoint.
Comparing to the Honda CRF 250L
The Honda CRF 150 has quality suspension (better than the CRF 250) and weighs in at 122KG vs the CRF 250L 147KG.
We used to take the Honda CRF 250L out on our offroad adventures, but an increasing envy of the riders on the less powerful 150cc became apparent. This is the way to go for people looking to get stuck in the jungle.
Fuel injection and air cooled, there isn’t really anything to go wrong on this motorbike. We have found the harsh clay environments destroy radiators and cooling fans on bigger machines and we have struggled with the maintenance on tough trails. The Honda CRF 150cc riders have nothing to worry about. A simple and relatively light weight bomb proof machine.
