All our Yamaha WR 155 Motorbikes are under two years old

There is nothing wrong with our Honda XR 150L fleet. Tigit thrives off the XR 150, and we have hundreds of positive reviews about its reliability. But, it is no secret (to experienced riders) that the Yamaha WR 155 is a vastly better machine.

This model of motorbike at Tigit is charged at an extraordinarily high premium, and it is our pledge to you that these machines are kept in the best possible condition and are sold off after only two years of age.

Plenty of people appear to be a little bit paranoid about the condition of rental motorbikes. I must say I can’t blame them. I think our Honda XR 150s are fine for the job of traveling across Vietnam, but I also understand that a holiday to Vietnam might be a once-in-a-lifetime event, and if money is no object, then you may as well get the newest and best motorbike possible. This is what our Yamaha WR 155 road fleet is about: to be in perfect condition and sold off after only two years of age.

So, this motorbike is suited for two different kinds of people
1. The person who is paranoid about age and number of KM
2. The experienced rider who understands what the Yamaha WR 155 is, and knows just how good it is!

Let’s talk about reliability.

To clear something up, I don’t believe the Yamaha WR 155 is more reliable than our Honda XR 150 fleet. Regardless of age or number of kilometers on the bike, the WR 155 is a liquid-cooled bike, and the XR 150 is an air-cooled bike. Years of experience running a motorbike rental business have taught me how important this small distinction is when it comes to reliability. There are so many things that can go wrong with liquid-cooled motorbikes. A lot of these are actually the fault of the client.
Our Honda CRF 250L fleet was primarily sold off as an unreliable and useless motorbike by Tigit because of the liquid-cooled system. In reality, the engine failures regularly occuring could have been avoided if the drivers had been more experienced and clued up better on how to deal with liquid-cooled systems and overheating motorbikes.

The WR 155 has a small engine and should be more resilient than the Honda CRF 250L, but the point stands: if you are not an experienced rider, then this motorbike can fail on you quickly. You probably won’t understand why, but we will!

To further clarify, the Honda XR 150L shares a lot of the same parts as the locally made scooters. Big and important parts, like the clutch plates, can be replaced anywhere in Vietnam. Unfortunately, the Yamaha WR 155 doesn’t have a standard clutch for Vietnam, so getting parts will be impossible.

Finally, the XR 150 is a carburetor bike, and the Yamaha WR is a fuel-injection bike. Carburettors are fiddly things and often work “badly”, but they basically never break! Fuel injection systems, on the other hand, generally work perfectly. But when they fail, it is tough to fix!

Comfort

The Yamaha WR 155 has a narrow seat when compared to the Honda XR 150L I wouldn’t call it uncomfortable, but it leaves a lot to be desired. I certainly wouldn’t go putting a pillion rider on the back. For that, please keep to the Honda XR 150L

We can attach an extension rack to the motorbike so it can carry a fair amount of luggage.

So you still reading after all my negative comments on the WR?

With all the above out the way, I am so happy that Tigit is getting emails about renting this motorbike from people who seem to understand exactly what it is and how good it is. I thought the target market of “experienced riders” was lost when I threw in the towel and sold off the Honda CRF 250L series at Tigit. Much to my surprise, the demand for these WRs as road motorbikes has been higher than the CRF 250L back in day, and it shows me that not everyone on the internet is shopping for the largest capacity motorbike on offer.

I talk about how much I love the Yamaha WR 155 in my offroad videos when Tigit first invested in this motorbike.

I truly believe whether you want an offroad WR 155 or a road WR 155, this is, without question, the best motorbike for traveling across Vietnam (providing you have some experience).

  1. Morning Tigit Team,

Is the Enfield available in Danang.

I’m looking to arrive on Monday 12/11/2018, returning to Danang Friday 16/11/2018. I’ll be riding with my girlfriend. Are panniers available and do they fit while riding 2 up.

    Regards,
    Alex

  2. Hi guys

We have contacted you before regarding hiring bikes in January, i see the route you have on your site is Hanoi- HCM can it be done the other way round? I see the cost is750 for a months rental. We would only be looking at two weeks, would we be able to have a daily rate?. Also my mate has asked if you have a package, which includes guide, accommodation?

    1. It does not matter which is the start / finish city. The price is the same.

      The Himalayan is
      $3000 deposit on card
      $450 rent within 10 days
$35 a day after the first 10 days

      Two weeks (14 days?) = $590 rent

An email has been sent with more information.

  3. Hey hey

My Girl Friend and I will be riding from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City for the month of Dec. We will be taking the Ho Chi Minh road primarily. We have our eye on this bike. We both have motorcycle licenses here in the US, but that being said we know bike’s are always one size fits all.

She’s 5’3 Inches and I’m 5’11. We each want to ride our own bike so my question is, can she fit on it? Can suspension be adjusted to lower the bike if not.

Also whats support like for these in Vietnam? The Honda blades and Winners you have seem to be easy to fix up just about anywhere, but I have concerns that finding a replacement tire for one of these while in “sticks” might be difficult. Also do you anticipate these being ok making such a long journey so long as we change the oil at the appropriate times?

We will likely be renting from yall either way.

Thank you! Love you’re videos and info!

    1. The Himalayan is a low bike. Praised for its low center of gravity and great handling. She can drive it without modification.

There is basically no support for these bikes in Vietnam. However this is more our problem than yours. If the motorbike has issues that can not be sorted. Then we will replace with an XR 150 and refund accordingly.

Providing you are relaxed about a bad situation, and allow us as a company to fix the bad situation. Then all is good!

  4. we want from Sunday in Da Lat 16.12. Morning – 31.12.2018 in Ho Chi Minh City reserve a Royal Enfield Himalayan 400 cc! … and how much would that cost?
    Best regards
    Symphorien Gilles

    1. Dalat to HCM

      The Himalayan is
      $3000 deposit on card
      $35 a day

      + $30 transport to Dalat

      Total from 16th to 31st = $555 rent
